The overall goal here was to develop skills in motion graphics and build expertise in the software. This project was separated into several stages, and each stage was analyzed and reviewed for feedback with a potential client. This was a new experience using technology I was still learning, which posed a significant challenge. Guidance and the use of feedback was a key support.
To build an understanding of the After Effects, some time was spent developing simpler animations. I became comfortable with key frames, visual effects and the positioning of objects at this stage. Over time, I naturally became confident enough to import custom imagery and develop my own designs.
With my newfound confidence, I wanted to challenge myself by creating something elaborate and complex. A logo reveal like this needed to be suitably engaging and attractive to the eye. A significant portion of time was put into developing the board. The board would contain all the key elements and movements involved and ultimate lead to the logo's presentation. I had a great deal of enjoyment with this personally as I saw my ideas being given visual representation for the first time.
Following this, I reproduced the storyboard in After Effects. I created a prototype with a simple variant of the animation in mind, then proceeded to add more detail. I created designs in Illustrator which were inspired by my mood boards and applied them as well.
